A Comparative study on Glucose Levels in Serum and Saliva of Patients with Diabetes Mellitus and Healthy Individuals at Mullana Area

By Sonam Bhalla, Asha Karadwal, Swati Roy, Vivek Dahiya

The present study intends to compare and correlate serum & salivary glucose level in healthy & diabetic individuals. A total of 500 subjects were examined, of which 429 were healthy & 71 were confirmed diabetics. Post–prandial blood and salivary samples were analyzed. Mann-Whitney test using Pearson correlation was applied, which was statistically significant (P < .001). To conclude, glucose concentration in saliva is higher in diabetics than in healthy individuals. Moreover the changes in serum glucose concentration are followed by the changes in salivary glucose concentration. Thus saliva can be used as an adjunct diagnostic tool in diabetes mellitus.

Zirconium Antimonoarsanotungstate Zr[SbAsW]: Synthesis and Characterization

By Nadeem Sharma, Harish Kumar Sharma, Pernita Dogara, Ritu Ritu

Abstract: In the present research work we concentrated on the structure elucidation of new hetero polyacid salts: Zirconium Antimonoarsanotungstate Zr[SbAsW] salt synthesized at variable pH using sol-gel route. An instrumental technique, FTIR was used to assign the structural aspects to the compound. Physical characterization involves the determination of ion exchange capacity and maximum value for this parameter is 0.40mg/eq. Distribution coefficient values showed that the synthesized compound is preferentially selective for Cu2+ ion. Membrane composition where ZrSbAsW was 40% showed linearity in the range of 1.0×10-4 M to 1.0×10-1 M with a slope of 20.0 mV/decade taking 10-1 M as an internal solution. Above instrumental and analytical studies gave a picture of Cu2+ selective electron-active moiety to the synthesized compound.

Investigation on synthesis, structural and electrical properties of Barium Stannate based complex Perovskites Ba1-xLaxSn1-xCoxO3

By Manojit De, H S Tewari

The effect of La for Ba and Co for Sn substitution on the properties of Barium stanate i.e. solid solution of LaCoO3 with BaSnO3 of the type Ba1-xLaxSn1-xCoxO3 is investigated for x ≤ 0.30.The powders are prepared using high temperature solid state reaction method for composition x ≤ 0.30. The structural investigations of powders are taken at room temperature by powder X-ray diffractometer. XRD pattern of the samples show the formation of single phase material. Seebeck coefficient is almost constant with temperature and material exhibit p-type conduction. DC conductivity increases with the concentration of LaCoO3. Thermally activated small polaron hopping mechanism is the responsible for conduction in these samples.

A comparative study of Traditional and Smart Classrooms in relation to their Creativity and Academic achievement

By Navita malik, V.K. Shanwal

The education and health are two major components for development of any country. The traditional system of teaching has been replaced with latest technology. The technology is one of the important components for the advancement. The need of technology is also felt in teaching and learning to make it more meaningful. The process of attendance, assignments, homework, evaluation, management and many more issues become easier with the help of technology. The application of technology is not only useful in management but also to control them. The education imparted through interactive whiteboard is also known as Smart classroom. It is one of the important technology-based teaching aids used now-a-days. The studies revealed that the use of smart class room technology in the teaching and learning process is increasing day by day. It enhances the capability, interest, and motivation etc. of both tutor as well as students. Hence, it was felt necessarily to make an attempt to see the difference between academic achievement and its relation with creativity. This paper focuses on the comparison between the students which are studying in the traditional classroom and smart classroom in relation to their creativity and academic achievement. In this study students of VIII standard, aged from 13 to 15 years old were selected. The students were divided into two groups i.e. experimental and control, taught in smart classroom and traditional classroom respectively. The Baqer Mehndi’s verbal test was used to measure creativity. This study measured the academic achievement through researcher’s self-made class test for students. The t-values were used to compare the academic achievement of students studying in smart and traditional classrooms. Pearson’s Coefficient of correlation was used to find out the relation between creativity and academic achievement. It was found that was a significant difference of student’s academic achievement when taught with smart classroom and also found positive relation between academic achievement and creativity.

Keywords: Academic Achievement, Creativity, Smart Classroom technology and Traditional classroom.
