Abstract

The main reason for the exploitation of the tribes and their miserable plight is the lack of education. Due to ignorance arising out of illiteracy, tribal people could not take advantage of new economic opportunities. With the beginning of the developmental process in the tribal areas, two different education systems 'one traditional and the other technology based' emerged, due to which a conflict arose about which system of education should be adopted among them. In the present research paper, the number of tribals, their identity and the major provisions related to tribals in the Indian Constitution and the educational status of tribals, problems faced in education and their solutions have been highlighted. The education of tribal society has been highlighted by reviewing the literature related to tribal education.
