Contextual implicit role of PROBIOTICS in improving the Human Health

Abstract


The human gastrointestinal tract is colonised by a complex ecosystem of microorganisms. The introduction of probiotics into human diet is favourable for the intestinal microbiota. Recently probiotic bacteria have become very popular as the scientific evidence supports their beneficial effects on human health.  Probiotic strains like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium are frequently used in various fermented dairy foods.  They exhibit various health benefits like prevention of bowel-related problems, help to build up immunity, for lactose intolerance and balances the intestinal microbial environment, controls levels of cholesterol and also has a positive impact on overall health. There is a need for additional research to further clarify the role of most effective probiotics for other ailments. Also, extensive study is needed to study their safety as well as their nutritional aspects.
