http://pubs.iscience.in/journal/index.php/ijss/article/view/1521
Researches say, children who miss schools frequently, often fall behind. Regular attendance is generally considered a prerequisite for attaining desired academic learning level (Aucejo & Romano (2016); Gottfried (2010, 2011); Gottfried & Kirksey (2017); Kirksey (2019); Morrissey et al., (2014). A major cause of school absenteeism in the government schools located in urban areas like Delhi is health issues caused by low immunity and nutritional deficiencies. UNICEF in its report published in May 2022 mentioned that children below the age of five in India are severely affected by malnutrition, which is the most in the world. Psychologists believe that development in all aspects is interrelated across the domains. Students' growth is directly affected by their nutrition, which in turn is influenced by the socioeconomic status and nutritional awareness. Nutritional deficiencies impact the academic performances of children (Michelle D. Florence, Mark Asbridge, Paul J Veugelers 2008). This research paper tends to draw the relational impact of nutritional deficiencies on educational performances and school absenteeism in students. It is a comparative study of primary school children from a government and a private school. The data was collected using a questionnaire, which was followed up by a focused group discussion with children. An interview of in-service school teachers was also conducted to validate the findings of the research. Therefore, this study assesses nutritional health and food accessibility among students. This study also critically analyses the mid-day meal scheme of the government and explores the gap between the idea and its implementation.Manisha Wadhwa nee DabasAreeba Hussain

http://pubs.iscience.in/journal/index.php/ijss/article/view/1489
<p>The most common and thoroughly investigated neuropsychiatric disorder affecting children and adolescents is attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which is characterised by age - inappropriate inattentiveness, hyperactivity, and restlessness. A full patient background, medical interview, and a complete physical examination are all required for the diagnosis of ADHD. A number of other illnesses can resemble ADHD or interact with it. The doctor must notice environmental elements that may influence the severity of the condition displayed by the ADHD child or adolescent. Treatment with a stimulant is likely to result in an instant, and often dramatic, reduction in the basic symptoms of ADHD. ADHD symptoms, which were considered to reduce as a kid aged, may linger throughout adolescence and adulthood, according to studies published in the last 20 years. This article provides a review of most materials have emerged and clinical data on the assessment and therapy of ADHD in children and teens to aid in making suitable and cautious clinical decisions. Teachers are in charge of guiding pupils not just in academics or extracurricular activities, as well as in shaping their destinies and developing them into better people. A teacher instills in students knowledge, morals, customs, contemporary difficulties, and strategies for overcoming them. Hence, the role of teachers in treatment is very crucial.</p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD, Drugs used in ADHD<strong></strong></p>Sheetal BhadanaNavita Malik

http://pubs.iscience.in/journal/index.php/ijss/article/view/1416
<p>This research paper aims to review the existing literature on thinking styles, types of thinking styles, characteristics of thinking styles and importance of thinking styles in an individual's life. Thinking Styles are described as how people think, perceive, and retain information. Styles should not be confused with abilities. They are the way one prefers to use their abilities to process information, solve problems, and so on. Sternberg in his theory of mental self government, described 13 thinking styles, which fall within five dimensions, namely as: functions (legislative, executive, and judicial styles), forms (hierarchic, oligarchic, monarchic, and anarchic styles), levels (global and local styles), scopes (internal and external styles), and leanings (liberal and conservative styles). These are most widely used and studied among other thinking styles. By assessing the specific styles of a person, one can determine how well they may respond to a given task. Thinking styles also gives an overall reflection of individual's personality/persona.</p><div><p class="05Keyword">Keywords: Thinking Styles, Types of Thinking styles, Sternberg's Theory, Characteristics of styles, Individual personality.</p></div>Anjali RanaRaksha RanaSurya Rana

http://pubs.iscience.in/journal/index.php/ijss/article/view/1123
Ecosystems continue to be impacted by human activities, there is a need to address the benefits of biodiversity and take steps to prevent from harming the biodiversity permanently. The increasing rapid growth of human population has led to the exploitation of Earths biological diversity in an unsustainable manner. This has made a lot of changes come through, like a shift in the climate, acidification of the ocean and various anthropogenic activities (environmental impacts). We must hold this as a point, that effective conservation of biodiversity is critical for human survival and continuity of ecosystems processes. However, some conservational advances and growth in public as well as government interest in sustainability of biodiversity is still on the low side. Conservation approaches need to be implemented along with broader institutional and societal transformations enabled more effective implementation of the policy. Moreover, conservation should clearly be proactive and ongoing, to as far an extent that is possible. Climate change is bound to become one of the outcomes of the recent human activities and poses a deep threat to Biodiversity. This paper entails the study of protected areas in terms of geopolitical and habitat coverage, considers the numbers as a global indicator of conservation standards. Protected areas, their role in preservation of biodiversity and quality control in these areas are discussed. Ex-situ and in-situ conservation methodologies are taken into consideration.Preeti VohraIndu Nashier Gahlawat

http://pubs.iscience.in/journal/index.php/ijss/article/view/1027
<div class="WordSection1"><div>This paper describes the process of constructing and standardizing a scale to measure the student's attitude towards the leadership behavior of the principal by the researcher. The main objective of the presented paper is to construct a scale using the Likert method and evaluate its reliability and validity. Administrators were compiled and distributed on a representative sample of 275 students of Intermediate College for preliminary testing of the scale. Units were analyzed by calculating the correlation between each statement and the score of the entire scale. At the 0.05 level of significance, 39 units were found to be meaningful. The content validity of the said scale was ensured by discussions with more than 15 concerned subject-experts and their critical suggestions. Construct validity was determined by the correlation (r) in the total score of each dimension and the total score of the scale. Differential validity for each dimension was determined by calculating two independent group t-tests between scores of 27% applicability of the high and low groups. The reliability coefficient of all dimensions and overall scale were calculated by the internal compatibility method (Cronbach alpha). The overall scale has a reliability coefficient of 0.917, which is excellent.</div></div>Vinod KumarGopal Krishna Thakur

http://pubs.iscience.in/journal/index.php/ijss/article/view/1120
An increase in the average global temperature and an overall change in the climate is referred to as Global Warming. Natural processes and anthropogenic activities are the main contributors to such an increase in the world’s average temperature.0ver the years, scientists and environmentalists have achieved a common consensus that the global warming scenario is being aggravated by the Green House Gases (released during the combustion of fossil fuels, which in turn causes pollution as well). These Green House Gases have given rise to an increased rate of global warming. This wouldn’t have been the case if fossil fuels were not used. Scientists have come to another conclusion that the effects of global warming will be very long lasting and that they will not only affect the climate conditions but also will lead to erratic temperature changes, increase in the losses due to floods and storms, melting of ice caps, rising sea levels, damage to the biodiversity, increased mortality and frequent outbreak of diseases. Climatic change is the most dangerous environmental issue faced by the world today. It is one of the biggest challenges that the world is currently struggling to fight in the best way possible. The effect of global warming is prevalent in every part of the globe, affecting all types of societies, cultures, and geographies. This paper is aimed to review the climate changes and their impacts and implications on the world. Some of the possible remedies to minimize the further impact of global warming have been investigated and suggested.Indu Nashier GahlawatPoonam Lakra

http://pubs.iscience.in/journal/index.php/ijss/article/view/1113
The concepts of knowledge in specific context vary among the young kids and adults. The Adults find many contextual concepts (knowledge) as vague or incorrect when children describe particular concept. It needs to be understood that children have their own way of thinking and have their logic. This paper explores various alternative conceptions of children, their sources and impacts on child's learning. During this action research in a primary and middle school a deliberate effort was made to understand children's alternative conceptions. A number of tools like questionnaire, discussion, observation, interview and checklists were used. Alternative conceptions were identified for 'Who is a scientist? What is Science? Heat, plants and food. It was found that children's alternative conceptions were so strong (due to the most INFLUENTIAL SOURCES) that they cannot be changed easily in a short period of time. Teachers and family members need to challenge these alternative conceptions continuously regularly so that they form scientifically correct ideas.Manisha WadhwaIndu Nashier GahlawatAnnu Chhikara
